Darkman #4

Javier Saltares delivers a genuinely unsettling close-up on this 1993 Marvel issue, filling the cover with Darkman's bandage-wrapped face — one burning red eye staring out beneath the brim of his hat, a wide, exposed grin adding an eerie touch of menace. Subtitled "Eye of Darkness," issue #4 makes full use of that title with a composition that feels equal parts tragic and threatening. With Kurt Busiek scripting and Saltares handling both pencils and inks on the interior as well, this is a strong entry in Marvel's adaptation of the cult film character.
