Written by Kurt Busiek and brought to life with striking, moody art by John Paul Leon—whose pencils, inks, and colors define the issue’s haunting tone—this story deepens the mystery of the Bat Creature’s origins, hinting at a lost twin brother named Thomas. With the help of a reluctant ally, Hoover, Bruce is drawn into a web of political corruption that refuses to stay buried. The cover by John Paul Leon captures the story’s brooding intensity, making this a standout entry in the series.
