Archangel dominates this June 1999 cover with his enormous silver wings spread wide, his blue-skinned figure rendered front and center in striking black-and-white costume — and the cover itself cheekily answers its own question ("Nah, he's only a guest star… but doesn't he look cool on this cover?"). Surrounding him are the Thunderbolts lineup including Hawkeye with his bow staff, a rocky dark figure with glowing eyes, and several red-and-gold costumed teammates, all rendered with Mark Bagley's energetic pencils inked by Scott Hanna. Writer Kurt Busiek and the Bagley/Hanna art team bring their trademark ensemble energy to "Flight Plans," promising a fun team dynamic with one very impressive winged guest in tow.
