Erik J. Larsen, born December 8, 1962, is an American artist, writer, and publisher whose career spans more than four decades and over 600 credited comic book issues. He came to widespread attention in the early 1990s through his energetic, kinetic work on Marvel's Spider-Man titles, including *The Amazing Spider-Man*, where his dynamic page compositions helped define an era of superhero art that prized bold action and visual momentum.

In 1992, Larsen was among the group of prominent Marvel artists who departed the company to establish Image Comics, a move that fundamentally reshaped the industry's conversation around creator ownership. For Image he launched *Savage Dragon*, his most enduring achievement — a superhero series he has written, drawn, and largely produced solo, making it one of the longest-running creator-owned superhero titles in American comics history.

Beyond his creative work, Larsen served for a significant stretch as publisher of Image Comics and currently holds the role of chief financial officer there, demonstrating an unusual commitment to the organizational side of an industry he helped transform. His catalog credits him across virtually every production role — artist, writer, inker, colorist, and letterer — reflecting both the breadth of his craft and the self-sufficient ethos that has characterized his work since *Savage Dragon*'s debut.
