There's something wonderfully absurd about this 2002 Image cover — Erik Larsen renders the green-skinned, fin-headed Savage Dragon mid-meal, sipping a soda through a straw and clutching an enormous, dripping burger with his massive fist, all while chaos crackles in the background. It's a disarmingly casual moment for a superhero, and the juxtaposition of domestic snacking against what looks like an explosion behind him gives the cover an off-kilter charm that's pure Larsen. With a story titled "Candyman!" and that gap-toothed grin replaced by wide, uneasy eyes, issue #105 promises something a little strange lurking beneath the fast-food humor.
