Savage Dragon #104
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeSavage Dragon #104 is one of the most consequential single issues in Erik Larsen's decades-long ongoing series, delivering two landmark moments in the same 22 pages: the long-deferred wedding of Dragon and Jennifer Murphy finally succeeds after years of tragedy and near-misses, and the first appearance of Mister Glum (Ba-Goom) plants the seed for one of the series' most memorable long-running antagonist arcs. Jennifer joining the Liberty League in the same issue reshapes the book's team dynamic in ways that echo across dozens of subsequent issues. For Larsen completionists, this is the issue where the series' domestic and cosmic storylines converge most sharply — Dragon mourning the death of his original Earth even as he begins a new family life in the replacement reality.

Written, penciled, and inked entirely by Erik Larsen — the series' sole creator-owned auteur — issue #104 is part of the run during which Larsen was navigating Dragon's post-Earth-switch status quo, a narrative pivot he had executed around issue #75. The issue arrived in October 2002 as one of three packed anthology-style packages that month, featuring a pin-up by Ryan Sook and David Self, a backup story by Brent Engstrom, and a Comic Bits strip by Chris Giarrusso — the latter an all-ages recurring feature in the title during this era that would eventually spin off into Giarrusso's own G-Man series from Image. Reuben Rude handled colors and Chris Eliopoulos provided letters.
