First full team appearance of the Femme Fatales (Knockout, Mindblast, Whiplash, and Bloodlust), created by David Michelinie and Erik Larsen.
First individual appearances of Knockout and Mindblast; Whiplash and Bloodlust had previously appeared together in Marvel Comics Presents #49.
The 'Dr. Turner' who manipulates Spider-Man into wanting his powers removed is later revealed (in ASM #343) to be the Chameleon in disguise — making this issue a key setup chapter for that villain's long-game scheme.
The issue's two stories are titled 'Female Trouble!' and 'The Hero Subtracter'; the latter ends with Peter Parker resolving to ask Dr. Turner to permanently strip him of his spider-powers.
Written by David Michelinie with pencils by Erik Larsen and inks by Mike Machlan — the creative team that had just concluded the 'Return of the Sinister Six' arc (ASM #334–339).
Editing credits: Dan Cuddy (assistant editor), Jim Salicrup (editor), Tom DeFalco (editor-in-chief); on-sale date was August 14, 1990.
The issue was reprinted in the Amazing Spider-Man Epic Collection vol. 21: Return of the Sinister Six (2016) and in the Spider-Man by David Michelinie and Erik Larsen Omnibus (2017).
Two primary variants exist: a direct edition and a Newsstand edition, with a third Mark Jewelers insert variant also documented.
