The Outsiders #28

The cover says it all — "Last Issue!" and "The Final Stand!" as a small, determined band of Outsiders faces down an overwhelming swarm of massive, reaching figures that dwarf them completely. Erik Larsen and Al Gordon's cover composition is striking: the team — including a caped figure in yellow and green, a sword-wielding woman in white, a red-haired hero, and several others — clusters together defiantly at the bottom of the page while giant red-and-blue armored threats loom in from every direction. This February 1988 finale also ties into DC's Millennium crossover event (Week 5), making it a fitting send-off for a team that always did things their own way.
