Freak Force, the police-sponsored super-squad that had been the series' ensemble backbone since issue one, quits the Chicago Police Department at the end of this issue and walks away from Dragon entirely, simultaneously debuting the second Mighty Man while clearing the board for the darker solo arc that would follow. The issue also completes CyberFace's transformation from Vicious Circle lieutenant to captured informant, setting in motion the long-running plot thread — Overlord's secret identity — that would drive the next two years of the title. As the final chapter of what was collected as 'A Force to Be Reckoned With,' it marks a genuine turning point in how creator-owned superhero comics could use consequence and change as storytelling tools rather than cosmetic events.

Issue #6 arrived on October 30, 1993, roughly five months into the ongoing monthly series that Larsen launched after his three-issue miniseries proved successful enough for Image to greenlight a continuing title. Larsen handled every major creative role himself — writer, penciller, inker — with Chris Eliopoulos lettering, Reuben Rude and Steve Oliff on colors, and Jannie Wong as editor; a pin-up by Jae Lee (Dragon and SuperPatriot) was also included. When the issue was later reprinted in the trade paperback 'Savage Dragon Vol. 2: A Force to Be Reckoned With' (collecting #1–6), Larsen added a new one-page prologue that gave Overlord's perspective on the Annihilators, context that was absent from the original pamphlet printing.
