Aquaman faces overwhelming odds in this August 1999 issue, and the cover by Eric Battle and Norm Rapmund captures the tension brilliantly — the King of the Seven Seas lunges forward with his golden-haired form surrounded by churning water and debris, while massive mechanical structures and searing energy beams bear down on him from all sides. The tagline "Enemies of the Past!" hints at old grudges resurfacing, making this a compelling chapter in Erik Larsen and Gary Carlson's run on the title. Andy Smith's interior art brings "Watery Graves" to life in what promises to be a story with plenty of undersea fury and high stakes.
