Savage Dragon #127 is the pivotal chapter of Erik Larsen's 'Glum World' arc, depicting the full weight of Mister Glum's planetary conquest — one of the most tonally ambitious storylines in the series' long history — and delivering the first appearance of Solar Man, a murderous Superman analog whose flashback origin recontextualizes decades of in-universe superhero history. Issue #127 arrived in June 2006 as part of the series' return to regular publication following a near year-long gap between issues #121 and #122, a hiatus directly caused by Erik Larsen's appointment as publisher of Image Comics. Larsen produced the main story solo (story and art), while a backup strip credited to Karim R. Whalen on art and John Rauch on colors rounded out the 20-page issue; the backup features Horridus and also carries a Chris Giarrusso 'Comic Bits' contribution. The Wanted crossover threads across issues #127 and #128 represent a formal creative collaboration between Larsen and the Millarworld franchise, set during the period when the Fraternity was raiding parallel universes as depicted in that series.
