Savage Dragon #119

Few comics from 2004 could boast a cover this audacious: Erik Larsen's green-finned Dragon hauls off mid-punch at a figure bearing a striking resemblance to President George W. Bush, right in front of the official Seal of the President of the United States podium, as a silhouetted crowd looks on below. The fiery red-orange backdrop and the story title "Bushwacked!" make the political provocation unmistakably intentional. Larsen has never been shy about swinging big, and this issue of his long-running Image series is a vivid reminder of just how far outside the lines Savage Dragon is willing to color.
