About this Collection

This Epic Collection volume from Marvel reprints a pivotal era for Spider-Man, covering the late 1990s storylines that saw Peter Parker's world turned upside down. It includes the controversial 'Spider-Man: The Clone Saga' epilogue and the introduction of a new, more aggressive Spider-Man, as well as the 'Threat or Menace?' arc that explores the public's shifting perception of the wall-crawler. Collecting issues from the 'Amazing Spider-Man,' 'Spectacular Spider-Man,' and 'Web of Spider-Man' series, this book captures a dark, transitional period for the character.

In "Spirits of the Earth," Spider-Man finds himself caught in a deadly game of cat and mouse when Justin Hammer secretly hires him to take down Cardiac—only to then send Boomerang after him. With Silver Sable pulling strings from the shadows and a newly freed Eddie Brock unknowingly unleashing the Venom symbiote’s next chapter, the streets of New York become a battleground of shifting loyalties and hidden agendas. Written by David Michelinie and brought to life by Mark Bagley’s dynamic art, with Randy Emberlin’s inks, Bob Sharen’s colors, and Rick Parker’s lettering, this epic collection entry features a cover by Erik Larsen and Al Gordon.

Through Silver Sable (and without his knowledge of who the real boss is), Justin Hammer hires Spidey to take down Cardiac and then hires Boomerang to take down Spidey. Eddie Brock is freed from prison by the Venom symbiote, but as he leaves his cell, a little drip from the costume stays behind to keep Cletus Kasady company.
