Savage Dragon #213
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeSavage Dragon #213 marks the birth of Amy Dragon — confirmed by the official Savage Dragon Wiki as the character's first appearance and identified there as 'the first known female Chosen One' in the series' mythology — a narrative milestone that pushed Larsen's multi-generational, real-time experiment into its third generation. The issue also opens a deliberately unresolved mystery about Amy's parentage (she is born appearing fully human, defying all Krylan biological expectations) that would drive story tension for many subsequent issues. Within the broader arc of the series, it demonstrates the core creative thesis Larsen articulated at issue #200: that the book would keep producing new generations of Dragon children rather than reset or relaunch, making #213 a structural load-bearing chapter in one of the longest continuously numbered runs in American comics.

Issue #213 was written, penciled, inked, and colored by Erik Larsen, with lettering by Chris Eliopoulos, colors by Nikos Koutsis, and flatting by Mike Toris — the lean production team Larsen maintained during this era of the Malcolm Dragon years. It was published by Image Comics on April 20, 2016 (Diamond order code JAN160612) and was billed in solicitations as the start of a new story arc, following the concentrated domestic drama that had been building around Maxine's pregnancy. The Savage Dragon Wiki records that the issue also reprinted a backup story — 'Reggie the Veggie' — originally published in Popgun Vol. 4, giving the issue a small anthology dimension alongside its main narrative.
