Issue #216 of Erik Larsen's long-running Image series puts Malcolm Dragon front and center — rendered in a striking red costume, lunging forward with raw, coiled energy above a fin-headed, heavyset figure in a Super Police uniform who looks ready to meet him head-on. Debris flies, a city looms in the background, and the whole composition crackles with the kinetic momentum Larsen brings to both his cover pencils and inks. "Mermaid Ave" promises a 2016 chapter of this series that's as viscerally charged as any on the stands.
