Dann Thomas
Dann Thomas (born Danette Maxx Couto, January 30, 1952) is an American comic book writer whose career has unfolded largely in partnership with her husband, writer and editor Roy Thomas, whom she married in May 1981. She legally changed her first name from Danette in the early 1980s, around the time she began making her mark in the industry.
Over a writing career spanning more than four decades and more than 330 credited issues, Thomas has contributed to a wide range of Marvel and DC titles. Her collaborative work with Roy Thomas has touched some of the more ambitious team-book projects of the 1980s and beyond, including All-Star Squadron, Arak: Son of Thunder, the Crimson Avenger miniseries, and Avengers West Coast. Among the titles where she received the most prominent credit are Young All-Stars, Infinity, Inc., Doctor Strange: Sorcerer Supreme, and Captain Thunder and Blue Bolt.
Her work is most closely associated with ensemble superhero storytelling, particularly series that drew on Golden Age continuity and character history — a specialty she shares with Roy Thomas. Though she has operated somewhat outside the mainstream spotlight, her sustained body of work across two of the industry's major publishers reflects a genuine dedication to craft and a consistent creative voice within the collaborative comics-writing tradition.
