Arak #6
This volume collects issues from the French-language reprint series Arak, published by Arédit-Artima in 1986, featuring the adventures of the Native American warrior Arak, Son of Thunder, originally created by Roy Thomas and Ernie Colón for DC Comics.
In "Les portes du scorpion," Arak and his companions set sail in search of his lost homeland, only to be caught in a violent storm that sweeps Valda overboard. When the ship reaches a mysterious island, Arak and Satyricus venture ashore and stumble upon a brutal gladiatorial spectacle—Valda, alive but trapped, must fight a monstrous bull. With the beast slain, the ground splits open, swallowing Arak’s friends whole. As he stares in shock, he confronts the chilling truth: the island’s high priestess is Angelica, his long-standing enemy. Written by Roy Thomas and Dann Thomas, with evocative art by Tony DeZuniga and coloring by Adrienne Roy, this issue features a striking cover by Tony DeZuniga.
In "null," Arak and his companions set sail in search of his lost homeland, only to be thrown into chaos when a storm sweeps Valda overboard. After their ship drifts to a mysterious island, Arak and Satyricus venture ashore to find a city gripped by ritual — where Valda is forced to battle a monstrous bull in the arena. With the beast slain, their relief is shattered as the ground opens beneath them, swallowing Arak’s friends whole. As he stares down the sudden revelation, the island’s high priestess is none other than Angelica — his long-standing enemy, now risen in power and mystery.
In "Les portes du scorpion," Arak ventures into the land of the dead to rescue his lost companions, finding Satyricus among the spirits bound for judgment. With the help of a surprising ally, the ancient Gilgamesh, Arak revives both Satyricus and Valda, and the three fight their way through the desolate realm to return to the living world. As they emerge, they discover Angelica’s city reduced to ruin, leaving their fate uncertain.
In "Un capitaine raconte...", Arak and his companions find themselves stranded at a deserted port, its silent ships a mystery. When they're ambushed by the ruthless pirate Samakin, they uncover a dark ritual tied to a priest of Shiva—only to be thrust into a nightmare when the priest reveals a terrifying truth. With the tide of violence rising, Arak’s ancient lineage proves vital in facing a foe beyond mortal understanding.
