“A Gauntlet Hurled!”

Part of Marvel's 1991 Infinity Gauntlet crossover event, this issue pits the Sorcerer Supreme against one of the cosmos's most formidable figures — the Silver Surfer, shown here riding his board through a star-speckled void while a determined Dr. Strange extends a glowing magical tendril directly at him. Chris Marrinan's pencils and Mark McKenna's inks give the confrontation a wonderfully dynamic charge, with Strange's sweeping red Cloak of Levitation dominating the foreground as energy bursts radiate between the two combatants. Roy and Dann Thomas, with art by Tony DeZuniga, deliver what promises to be a crackling clash of cosmic and mystical power.
