The cover of this June 1988 issue says it plainly — "A Death in the Family" — and Michael Bair's artwork drives the point home with a robed, scythe-wielding Grim Reaper looming at center stage while the faces of Infinity Inc.'s roster surround him: a green-skinned woman crackling with energy above, and portraits of teammates including a dark-clad figure, a white-haired man, a masked hero in a crown, a woman in a mask, and others framed in fragmented panels below. Roy Thomas, Dann Thomas, and Bair bring a genuinely somber weight to this installment, making clear that not everyone in the Infinity Inc. family may make it out unscathed.
