“Philadelphia-- It Tolls for Thee!”

Arvell Jones and Pablo Marcos deliver a cover that puts you squarely in Baron Blitzkrieg's grip — literally — as the Nazi villain's massive, swastika-emblazoned fists dominate the foreground while Hawkgirl and a blonde heroine cling to a rope above him, and two red-costumed speedsters are flung aside on either flank. The tagline promises that Baron Blitzkrieg "pulls out all the stops," and the cover makes that threat feel entirely credible. Roy Thomas, Dann Thomas, Jones, and Marcos round out a creative team clearly having a great time setting DC's World War II heroes against one of their most imposing adversaries — and there's even a Dr. Fate pin-up by Dan Jurgens waiting inside.
