Infinity, Inc. #9
Infinity, Inc. #9 is the penultimate chapter of the ten-part 'Generations' saga, the founding narrative of DC's first ongoing series centered on the children and protégés of the Justice Society of America. The issue delivers the full dramatic payoff of the arc's central concept: the Infinitors — many of them literally the sons and daughters of the JSA's greatest heroes — are forced to fight their own parents and mentors, now stripped of conscience by the mystical Koehaha 'Stream of Ruthlessness.' That parent-versus-child conflict gave DC's Earth-Two corner of the multiverse an emotional weight and generational dimension that no previous JSA-adjacent book had attempted. The issue also deepens the Ultra-Humanite's role as the saga's mastermind, consolidating the albino-gorilla villain's status as the defining adversary of early Copper Age Earth-Two storytelling.

The 'Generations' saga was scripted by Roy Thomas — who also served as the series' editor — with co-plotting by Dann Thomas, pencils by Jerry Ordway, and inks shared by Mike Machlan, Tony DeZuniga, and Ordway himself. The series launched in March 1984 on DC's premium Baxter paper format, a deliberate publishing upgrade that signaled the company's investment in the Earth-Two line after the success of All-Star Squadron. Issue #9, cover-dated December 1984, sits at part nine of the ten-chapter arc, with the story concluding in issue #10 (January 1985); letterers for this installment were David Cody Weiss and L. Buhalis, and coloring credits went to Anthony Tollin and Adrienne Roy.
