“It's in the Blood... [The Vampiric Verses, Part 1 of 5]”

Vampires return to the Marvel Universe in this 1990 opener to "The Vampiric Verses," a five-part saga that promises plenty of supernatural dread for the Sorcerer Supreme. The cover by Butch Guice sets an urgent, unsettling tone: a snarling vampire looms over a woman caught in his grip while Dr. Strange — red Cloak of Levitation billowing, expression fierce — dives in from above, clearly intent on intervention; a small inset portrait of a fanged, feral face adds one more chill at the bottom corner. The cover copy itself teases that Doc's own brother is caught up in the vampiric threat, making this a deeply personal battle as well as a cosmic one.
