Infinity, Inc. #2
The massive, glowering face of a gorilla-like villain dominates this May 1984 cover, his red eyes radiating menace as the young heroes of Infinity, Inc. scramble around him — some airborne with golden wings, some in capes and masks, others sprawled and struggling below. The cover's pointed question — "Will the next generation of super-heroes even last till tomorrow… or will they meet their dooms yesterday??" — sets up the generational stakes with real dramatic punch. Cover art by Mike Machlan and Jerry Ordway gives this sophomore issue of Roy Thomas's ambitious Next Generation concept a genuinely gripping sense of scale and peril.

As the Infinitors square off vs. the Ultra-Humanite for the first time, both in the present and later in 1942, the Humanite has other plans vs. the JSA. He drowns Superman first in the Stream, which when ingested, causes a 'fake' death to occur, but evil tendencies later appear in the 'drowned' person when they revive. To be continued...
