Arak #4
In "Dans le repaire du seigneur des serpents," Arak’s fate takes a desperate turn when Malagigi and Valda arrive in Baghdad to meet Caliph Harun Al-Rashid—only to discover Arak imprisoned and tortured. With a bold invocation of Carolus Magnus, Malagigi secures his release, and Valda begins his recovery, while Arak recounts how he and his companions were captured by the Caliph’s wazir, Barmak, and scattered to serve the court. Written by Roy and Dann Thomas and illustrated with striking detail by Tony DeZuniga—both in the interior and on the cover—this 1986 issue delivers a tense, atmospheric chapter in Arak’s journey, with DeZuniga’s dynamic art bringing the ancient city’s shadows to life.
