Peter J. Tomasi is an American comic book editor and writer whose career at DC Comics spans both sides of the editorial desk. Active in the industry from 1995, he built his early reputation as an editor, shepherding titles centered on the Justice League and its members — among them Batman, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern, and the Flash.
Transitioning into writing, Tomasi found his footing with Green Lantern Corps, developing a talent for ensemble action and character-driven drama that would define his subsequent work. His collaborations on Blackest Night and Brightest Day, the latter alongside Geoff Johns, helped shape one of DC's major event cycles of that era. He also helmed Green Lantern: Emerald Warriors as part of that expanding mythology.
Perhaps his most acclaimed work as a writer is Batman and Robin, where he explored the fractured yet deepening bond between Bruce Wayne and Damian Wayne with notable emotional honesty. He later continued in the Batman family of titles through Detective Comics and expanded his scope with Super Sons and Superman. Beyond comics, he wrote the screenplay for the animated film The Death of Superman.
With over 520 credited issues across three decades, Tomasi's body of work reflects a sustained commitment to DC's core characters — balancing large-scale storytelling with genuine attention to the relationships at the heart of those stories.
