Green Lantern Corps #39

Part of DC's sweeping 2009 "Blackest Night" crossover, this issue of Green Lantern Corps presents an unsettling image straight from a nightmare: a Black Lantern figure with a skeletal face rises defiantly against an eerie green-lit backdrop, surrounded by a host of decayed, undead forms closing in from every direction. The sense of dread is palpable, with Patrick Gleason's cover pencils and Christian Alamy's inks rendering each ghoulish detail with striking precision. Peter J. Tomasi's "Fade to Black!" promises that the Corps faces something far darker than their usual battles against the void.
