Superman #7
Part of DC Universe Rebirth's heartfelt reimagining of the Man of Steel, Superman #7 arrives in November 2016 with a cover by Patrick Gleason and Mick Gray that trades capes for countryside. Two weathered fence posts wrapped in barbed wire frame a makeshift "S" shield — bent and woven from the wire itself — while a lone black bird perches quietly on one post and a farm with silos sits peacefully in the background, a red laser-like streak cutting across the bright open sky. It's a quietly striking image that captures the rural roots of Superman's story without showing the hero at all, letting the symbol and the land do all the talking.
