Green Lantern Corps #24
The sinister Black Mercy vines take center stage on this July 2008 issue of Green Lantern Corps, with a massive, purple-skinned villain standing triumphantly with his back to us while two Green Lanterns lie ensnared by the creeping alien plant on either side of him — lightning crackling through a storm-bruised sky overhead. Patrick Gleason's cover pencils and Prentis Rollins's inks give the scene a genuine sense of dread, the helpless Lanterns wrapped tight in organic tendrils as their captor surveys the carnage. Part three of "Ringquest" promises to push the Corps to their limits, and this striking image makes a strong case for why.
