Green Lantern: Emerald Warriors #7

This 2011 prelude to "War of the Green Lanterns" delivers a genuinely unsettling cover by Rodolfo Migliari, depicting a Green Lantern writhing in apparent agony at lower left while a large, imposing purple-skinned villain looms above — all amid a backdrop of fire and coiling serpents that wind around a female figure whose face is obscured by snakes and what appears to be a mask. Peter J. Tomasi's "Last Will Seeing Red" is brought to life by Fernando Pasarin and inkers Cam Smith and Oclair Albert, promising the kind of cosmic, high-stakes tension the series does so well. If the cover is any indication, things are about to get very dark for the Emerald Warriors.
