Blackest Night: Batman #1
Part one of a three-issue tie-in to DC's sprawling 2009 Blackest Night event, this opener from writer Peter J. Tomasi drops Batman squarely into the darkest corner of that saga. Andy Kubert's cover — inked by Kubert himself — captures the tension beautifully: a caped Batman rears back against a skeletal, Black Lantern-ringed figure lunging upward with a glowing fist, the eerie green energy of the Blackest Night backdrop washing over both combatants. With interior art by Ardian Syaf and inks by John Dell and Vicente Cifuentes, "Who Burns Who, Part One" promises a visually charged confrontation between the living and the undead.
