Batman and Robin #22
Batman and Robin face a looming, unseen threat in this June 2011 installment of Peter J. Tomasi's run, with Patrick Gleason and Mick Gray's cover framing a tense composition: Robin stands arms-crossed in the foreground while Batman's dark silhouette looms behind him, both overshadowed by a pair of enormous, watchful eyes emerging from a burst of white light against Gotham's skyline. The cover tagline — "In the Grip of… The White Knight!" — hints at a psychological menace as much as a physical one, giving the whole image an eerie, hypnotic quality. Gleason's dynamic linework makes this conclusion to the "Dark Knight vs. White Knight" arc feel genuinely gripping before you've even opened the cover.
