Part of DC's sweeping 2009 "Blackest Night" crossover, this issue of Green Lantern Corps delivers one of the event's most unsettling cover images — a reanimated infant with cracked, pallid skin and glowing white eyes clutching a dripping, bloody heart while a decayed figure looms behind it. The tagline "Children of the Corps!" makes the horror explicit, and Patrick Gleason's pencils (inked by Rebecca Buchman) wring every ounce of dread from the image. Peter J. Tomasi's "Hungry Heart" promises that the Blackest Night has found a way to make its darkness feel deeply, disturbingly personal.
