Ivan Reis

Born in Brazil in 1976, Ivan Reis has built a reputation as one of contemporary comics' most accomplished pencillers, particularly through his long association with DC Comics. He broke into the industry in the mid-1990s, and his catalog now spans more than four hundred credited issues across three decades of steady output.

Reis is perhaps best recognized for his expansive, detail-rich work on DC's Green Lantern and Aquaman titles, as well as the crossover series Brightest Day and ongoing runs on Superman and Justice League. Earlier in his career he also contributed to titles at Dark Horse Comics, including Ghost, and worked for Marvel on Captain Marvel and Avengers Icons: The Vision. His draftsmanship draws frequent comparisons to both Alan Davis and Neal Adams — an assessment offered by longtime collaborator and writer Geoff Johns, with whom Reis produced some of his most celebrated work.

Stylistically, Reis brings a cinematic scale to superhero storytelling, balancing large-scale action sequences with expressive character work. His partnership with Johns across Green Lantern and Aquaman in particular helped define the visual tone of DC's publishing line during the late 2000s and early 2010s. He has remained consistently active into the mid-2020s, demonstrating a durability and creative range that few artists in mainstream comics can match.
