Included are tales of the Freedom Fighters, the Spectre, the OMACs, and the return of the original Superman, along with a framing sequence by Geoff Johns and a roster of top DC artists. It serves as a primer for readers jumping into the crossover, bridging the gap between the Countdown to Infinite Crisis special and the main series itself.
"The Ninth Age of Magic" delivers a sharp, high-stakes moment in the Infinite Crisis era, spotlighting the Secret Six as they navigate shifting alliances and rising chaos. Written by Gail Simone and illustrated by Dale Eaglesham with inks by Art Thibert and Drew Geraci, the story finds the team tracking a coordinated prison breakout across the globe, leading to a tense confrontation in Metropolis where even the mightiest heroes are outmatched. The cover, a collaborative effort by Justiniano, Jesús Saiz, Ivan Reis, Dale Eaglesham, Dan Jurgens, and others, captures the scale of the crisis with bold, dynamic flair.

While the "Secret Six," now minus the Parademon, try to decide what to do next, the Secret Society organizes breakouts at all the major metahuman prisons. With the big guns occupied, Oracle and Martian Manhunter recruit second- and third-string heroes to help handle the situation. The Six learn from Scarecrow and Amos Fortune that the villains are heading to Metropolis, information they pass on to Green Arrow. But when the amassed heroes face down the villains, who unleash their secret weapon Doomsday, the Six decide to stay out of the fray.
