Adventures of Superman #649

Apr 2006 · DC · 2.50 USD; 3.50 CAD
“Superman, This Is Your Life, Part Three”

In "Superman, This Is Your Life, Part Three," two versions of Superman confront each other not just in battle, but in the echoes of what might have been—each experiencing alternate lives shaped by different choices. One sees a world where Superman rules with an iron fist, locking away every criminal in the Phantom Zone; the other lives in a world where he’s the last hero, unchallenged until the Anti-Monitor’s arrival in the Crisis. Written by Joe Kelly and illustrated by Ed Benes, Tom Derenick, Karl Kerschl, Duncan Rouleau, Dale Eaglesham, and Ed McGuinness, with inks by Mariah Benes, Wayne Faucher, and others, and colors by Tanya Horie, Richard Horie, and Rod Reis, the issue’s cover by Ivan Reis and Marc Campos captures the moment of collision.

While the two Supermen battle, they experience alternate versions of each others' lives. In one, Superman leads the charge to put all criminals in the Phantom Zone and control Earth with an iron hand. In another, the Superman of Earth 2 has taken care of everything to the point that he is the only super-hero, but he fails when the Anti-Monitor attacks in the Crisis.
