Countdown to Adventure #3

Issue three of this eight-part DC miniseries — spinning out of 52 and Countdown — confronts readers with a genuinely unsettling cover penciled by Ivan Reis and inked by Oclair Albert. A flame-haired heroine in a purple costume clutches a frightened young child protectively against a chalkboard scrawled repeatedly with the word "KILL," while grasping hands surge in from every edge of the frame. It's a tense, atmospheric image that makes "The Home Front" feel like something far more personal and desperate than a typical superhero showdown.
