Superman #1
This collection kicks off Brian Michael Bendis's run on the Man of Steel, following the events of The Unity Saga. After a devastating confrontation with Rogol Zaar and the destruction of the Daily Planet, Superman finds himself and his family stranded on a mysterious, desolate version of Earth. The volume sets the stage for a new status quo, collecting Superman (2019) #1-6 as the hero grapples with the fate of his home and his place in the universe.
In "The Unity Saga," Zod’s vision of rebuilding Krypton on the planet Jekuul takes a dark turn when the ancient threat Rogol Zaar slaughters the last Kryptonians. Awakened from the vision, Zod journeys to Earth—arriving as the planet returns from the Phantom Zone and he regrows to full size—before enlisting the Atom to send him into the Phantom Zone to confront Zaar. Meanwhile, Superman faces the same danger in the Zone, where Zaar and other imprisoned villains await. Written by Brian Michael Bendis and illustrated by Ivan Reis with inks by Joe Prado and Oclair Albert, this pivotal issue features a cover by Ivan Reis and Joe Prado.
In the wake of a devastating invasion by the Dominators, Superman races through the cosmos searching for his lost family—only to find himself defending Earth once more. Back on the planet, he begins rebuilding the Fortress of Solitude, this time in the mysterious depths of the Bermuda Triangle, while J'onn J'onzz quietly proposes a bold new direction for the Justice League.
In the past, Myand'r stands ready to defend Tamaran as Thanagarian forces descend—only to discover Rogol Zaar has betrayed her people. In the present, Superman and the Justice League confront the shocking reality that Earth has been pulled into the Phantom Zone, leaving them stranded in a realm of frozen time and forgotten worlds.
In "The Unity Saga Pt 3," Superman and the Justice League face a crisis when Earth is accidentally pulled into the Phantom Zone during a S.T.A.R. Labs experiment. With the Zone’s strange physics warping the planet’s atmosphere, heroes like Batman, The Flash, and Martian Manhunter scramble to contain the chaos as Livewire and other scientists work to reverse the anomaly. Meanwhile, Rogol Zaar exploits the situation, rallying the Zone’s denizens into a growing threat—leaving Earth’s defenders to wonder how long they can hold the line before the real attack begins.
In "The Unity Saga Pt 4," Superman faces an overwhelming threat as Rogol Zaar and Jax-Ur command a horde of Phantom Zone villains in a desperate assault on Earth. With the planet trapped in the Phantom Zone, Ray Palmer devises a daring strategy, rallying allies like the Justice League—Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, and The Flash—alongside Adam Strange, as they race to find a way back before it's too late.
In "The Unity Saga Pt 5," General Zod’s vision of rebuilding Krypton on the planet Jekuul crumbles when Rogol Zaar massacres the last survivors, shattering his dream of unity. Awakened and driven by vengeance, Zod returns to Earth—growing to full size after his time in the Phantom Zone—before summoning the Atom to use the Phantom Zone Projector and plunge himself into the Zone to confront Zaar and the imprisoned villains. Meanwhile, Superman faces his own trial in the Zone, where the shadows of past enemies and forgotten allies loom large.
