Ron Frenz is an American comics artist whose four-decade career at Marvel Comics has produced some of the publisher's most enduring characters and storylines. Born Ronald Wade Frenz on February 1, 1960, he broke into the industry around 1981 and steadily built a reputation for clean, dynamic storytelling rooted in Marvel's house traditions.
He first drew widespread attention during the 1980s on *The Amazing Spider-Man*, where his work contributed to one of the character's most talked-about developments: the introduction of Spider-Man's black costume. That run established Frenz as a dependable visual storyteller capable of handling high-profile assignments.
His most sustained creative partnership has been with writer Tom DeFalco, a collaboration that yielded several notable additions to the Marvel universe. Together they co-created Thunderstrike, the New Warriors, and Mayday Parker — the alternate-future daughter of Peter Parker who went on to headline *Spider-Girl* and its successor title *Amazing Spider-Girl*. That series earned a devoted readership and showcased Frenz's ability to anchor a book across hundreds of issues. He also logged significant time on *Thor* and contributed to *Superman* at DC, demonstrating range beyond his Marvel home base.
With credits across more than 840 issues spanning 1981 to 2025, Frenz represents a particular strand of comics craftsmanship — consistent, character-focused, and deeply invested in continuity-minded storytelling.
