Marvel's "Mightiest Monarch of a Time-Lost Land" is front and center in this 1982 issue, as a muscular Conan grapples desperately with a massive, horned black-armored figure in what looks like a darkened, danger-filled chamber. A dark-haired woman collapses at their feet while skulls leer from the shadows, setting a suitably grim tone for "The Tombs Under Tarantia." Ron Frenz and Ricardo Villamonte deliver a cover full of raw physical tension, with Conan's strained expression and the looming supernatural menace making this one hard to pass up.
