Challengers of the Unknown #15

Apr 1998 · DC · 2.25 USD; 3.25 CAD
“Earth Came A-Walkin'”

In "Earth Came A-Walkin'," the Challengers of the Unknown face a planet-sized threat as Millennium Giants roam the globe, with the team racing to stop one that's heading straight for London. With help from John Constantine and a mystical energy trail, they use power lines and military coordination to redirect the colossal being, then travel to New Mexico to seek guidance from Hopi shaman Tim Blue Star, who reveals the Earth’s cycles of cleansing. Written by Steven Grant and illustrated by Ryan Sook, with inks by Bill Reinhold and colors by James Sinclair and Lee Loughridge, the issue blends grounded teamwork with supernatural mystery. The cover, a striking collaboration by Ron Frenz, John Paul Leon, and Shawn Martinbrough, captures the scale of the threat with dramatic flair.

Millnenium Giants are stomping all over the world. In England, the Challengers try to divert a giant who's walking a collision course with London. Clay leaps a motorcycle into the giant's foot. Kenn identifies lines of mystical energy with help from John Constantine. Marlon flies overhead, and Brenda coordinates. With Army help, the Challengers siphon huge amounts of electricity through power lines, and the giant turns. Visiting New Mexico, the Challengers consult Tim Blue Star, a Hopi shaman, who says the Earth is cleansed in cycles. Marlon suggests they need someone bigger -- Superman.
