Spider-Girl #47

The cover of Spider-Girl #47 sets a striking tone: a massive, looming shadow dominates the foreground with the bold title "Gods and Monsters," while Spider-Girl scrambles across a debris-strewn landscape to reach a fallen civilian — someone clearly in desperate need of help. Ron Frenz and John Livesay's cover art uses that stark silhouette brilliantly to suggest a threat of enormous scale without showing it directly. With DeFalco and Frenz at the helm in 2002, this series remained one of Marvel's most consistently entertaining superhero books, and this issue looks like no exception.
