The volume includes material originally published in various Amazing Spider-Man annuals and related titles, offering a mix of action and character-driven tales typical of the era.
In "The Day The War Began!", Spider-Man races through New York’s underworld hunting the Hobgoblin, all while his black alien costume strains against its containment—testing young Franklin Richards in ways he can’t understand. With Harry Osborn in danger and the Hobgoblin closing in, Spidey’s fight takes a wild turn in a women’s bathroom, where a pumpkin bomb webbed to a glider hand becomes a ticking time bomb. As Liz and Mary Jane are taken by the Rose’s men, Harry stands helpless—leaving Spidey to face the storm alone. Written by Tom DeFalco and illustrated by Ron Frenz, with inks by Joe Rubinstein and Brett Breeding, and colors by Bob Sharen, this 1990 UK annual features a cover by John Romita Sr.
