Jae Lee is an American comics artist whose atmospheric, shadow-heavy style has made him one of the more distinctive visual voices working across mainstream publishers since the early 1990s. Born in 1972, he broke into the industry around 1991 and built an early reputation through work on titles such as *Namor, the Sub-Mariner* and *Marvel Comics Presents*.

His most sustained critical recognition came with *Inhumans*, where his architectural page compositions and gothic sensibility brought a brooding weight to Marvel's royal alien family. The run remains closely associated with his name. He later brought that same controlled, painterly darkness to Stephen King's *Dark Tower: The Gunslinger Born*, an adaptation that introduced the series to comics readers and showcased his gift for mythic, spare imagery.

Lee has worked prolifically across publishers — Marvel, DC, Image, and Dynamite among them — contributing both interior art and cover illustration. His *Batman/Superman* work for DC demonstrated that his style translated effectively to the publisher's most recognizable characters. Over a career spanning more than three decades and some 251 credited issues, he has worked as artist, inker, colorist, and occasionally writer. While specific award citations are not documented in available records, his visual approach has left a recognizable imprint on the medium's aesthetic landscape.
