Jul 1995 · Marvel · 1.95 USD; 2.75 CAD
“[Countdown: 2] Dead and Deader”

In "Countdown: 2: Dead and Deader," the Punisher’s relentless war reaches a breaking point as he clashes with Cruz amid a violent mob showdown, while Bullseye—wearing Mather’s armor—moves through the chaos with cold precision. With Kingpin eyeing a comeback and the streets flooded with blood, the Punisher’s path fractures further when a tragic mistake in a park forces him to confront the cost of his crusade. Written by Chuck Dixon and brought to life by Rod Whigham’s stark interiors, with inks by Mike Witherby and colors by Tom Ziuko, this pivotal issue sees the character face his breaking point—leading to a final, devastating choice. The cover, a brutal, atmospheric piece by Jae Lee, captures the grim intensity of the moment.

Punisher and Cruz try to fight each other while engaging in a running battle with the mob. Bullseye, in Mather's armor, takes care of some mob business. Taking advantage of the chaos being wrought by the Punisher, Kingpin decides to try and reclaim his old position in crime. Stone Cold kills Cruz. During a shootout in the park with gangsters, Punisher accidentally kills a family on a picnic and, deciding his war is over, walks into the police station to turn himself in.
