The cover by Jae Lee sets an unsettling tone for this December 2004 chapter of Marc Andreyko's Manhunter run — Manhunter herself, clad in her red-and-silver costume, reels backward as a skeletal, ghoulish figure looms behind her, its gaunt face twisted in a snarl and its bony hands reaching for her throat. "Darkness Falls!" declares the blood-spattered logo, and the pitch-black background makes the crimson of her suit practically burn off the page. With Jesús Saiz and Jimmy Palmiotti handling the interior art, "Dark Shadows" promises the same moody, high-stakes energy that makes this series such a compelling corner of the DC universe.
