Dark Tower: The Long Road Home #2
The second chapter of this five-part Marvel limited series finds three gunslingers — weapons drawn and ready against a smoldering sky of deep orange and blue — pressed together in a tense, layered composition that radiates both danger and grim resolve. Jae Lee's cover art, colored by Richard Isanove, gives the figures a brooding, almost sculptural weight, with twisted bare branches looming at the edges to reinforce the sense of a world gone dark and strange. Peter David and Robin Furth's adaptation of Stephen King's beloved mythos is building beautifully, and this 2008 issue is exactly the kind of thing that reminds you why the Dark Tower saga translates so compellingly to the comics page.
