Tony Bedard is an American writer and editor whose career in comics stretches back to 1992, when he entered an industry he would go on to serve across multiple publishers and roles. Born as Antony J. L. Bedard, he cut his teeth during a fertile era for independent publishing and eventually became a versatile presence at both CrossGen Comics and the major superhero houses.
Forge #4 (2002)
At CrossGen, Bedard co-created Negation and wrote Route 666, helping to define that publisher's ambitious shared-universe experiment. He also contributed extensively to Mystic during this period. When CrossGen's fortunes faded, Bedard moved fluidly into Marvel's X-Men corner, taking on Exiles — one of his most sustained and celebrated runs — before becoming a reliable fixture at DC Comics. There he wrote Birds of Prey, R.E.B.E.L.S., Supergirl, and Green Lantern: New Guardians, among other titles. A lighter curiosity from his DC tenure is a trilogy of San Diego Comic-Con exclusive comics built around Colonel Sanders.
Edge #4 (2002)
Beyond print, Bedard branched into other storytelling formats, penning the screenplay for the 2008 animated film Turok: Son of Stone. By 2012 he had also established himself in the video game industry, contributing to high-profile titles including several Call of Duty installments — Black Ops 4, Black Ops Cold War, Vanguard, and Modern Warfare III. Our catalog credits him on 461 issues spanning 1993 to 2024, reflecting a prolific and genuinely wide-ranging career.
