Following the departure of the original lineup, a fresh roster including Blink, Morph, and new recruits like Mariko Yashida and Sabretooth navigates fractured timelines and alternate realities. The story wraps up the series' long-running threads while showcasing a diverse cast of X-Men-related characters from across the multiverse.
In "Back in the Saddle," the Exiles land on a shattered Earth moments after the Silver Surfer destroys it, witnessing the Surfer eliminate members of the Super Guardians defending a dying Galactus. With Galactus using Blink’s powers to send the Surfer away, the surviving Guardian Manta reveals the Surfer’s desperate mission: to kill Galactus, the world-restorer, for refusing to revive his war-ravaged homeworld, Zenn-La. As the Exiles prepare for the Surfer’s return, they’re contacted by the galactic empress Lilandra, setting the stage for a confrontation that could reshape the balance of power across the cosmos. Written by Tony Bedard and illustrated by Paul Pelletier, with inks by Rick Magyar, colors by Wil Quintana, and letters by Dave Sharpe, the issue’s cover by Jim Calafiore and Mark McKenna captures the scale of the impending clash.
In "Back in the Saddle," the Exiles take a rare break in their home realities before regrouping on Heather's world, where they lend their skills to her version of Alpha Flight in halting a Russian threat tied to the darkforce. When their mission ends, the Timebroker delivers a sudden twist: their refusal to follow the master plan has cost them their roles, and a new team has been chosen to replace them.
In "The New Exiles Part 2," the Exiles race against time to reach Brother Mutant, navigating a deadly swarm of alternate Wolverines from different timelines. With the Timebreakers reactivating the original team, the stakes rise as past and present collide in a fight for survival.
In "Superguardians Part 1," the Exiles arrive on a shattered Earth just as the Silver Surfer strikes down members of the Super Guardians defending a dying Galactus. With the Surfer now targeting Galactus himself—driven by a desperate mission to resurrect his destroyed world of Zenn-La—the Exiles must navigate a cosmic conflict they didn’t expect, all while the empress Lilandra reaches out from across the galaxy.
In "Superguardians Part 2," with the Super Guardians fallen and Galactus under threat, Lilandra arms the Exiles with power rings to stand against the Silver Surfer. When it becomes clear the rings alone won’t suffice, Sabretooth makes a bold move—petitioning for the power of a Galactus Herald to protect his team and turn the tide.
In "Wallflowers," while the Exiles push themselves to the limit repairing broken realities, Thunderbird drifts in stasis, caught in a dream where he and Nocturne face Apocalypse together—and build a life beyond the mission. The story quietly explores what might have been, set against the relentless grind of saving worlds.
