Black Canary #1

Opening a four-part miniseries from DC's 2007 lineup, this first issue sets the tone beautifully with a cover by Paulo Siqueira and Amilton Santos: Dinah Lance in her signature black leather and fishnet, astride a gleaming motorcycle, with a dark-haired young girl clinging to her side as they barrel forward under a dramatic twilight sky. The tagline "Living With Sin!" hints at the complicated dynamic between these two riders — one a seasoned hero, the other clearly someone she's taken under wing, or perhaps under guard. Writer Tony Bedard and artist Paulo Siqueira launch what looks to be a street-level, character-driven story that puts Black Canary front and center in a genuinely compelling way.
