“In the Flesh”

"In the Flesh" marks a pivotal moment in the R.E.B.E.L.S. series, as Dox’s desperate gamble against Starro’s mind-control takes a shocking turn when the starfish symbiote becomes the key to breaking the alien’s grip. Written by Tony Bedard and brought to life by Claude St. Aubin’s dynamic art, this issue sees the Omega Men’s last stand and a bold new direction for the resistance. The cover by Kalman Andrasofszky captures the tension perfectly, as Dox prepares his final move in a galaxy on the edge.

The weapon Dox prepared proves useless and Starro takes control of all the rebels but Dox. The Omega Men arrive with the poison they discovered, but their attack also fails to stop Starro or his starfish. Only when Dox applies a poison dart directly to the starfish in symbiotic relationship with Starro is Starro's control over the other starfish broken. After Despero takes Starro to Kalanor to execute him, Dox announces to the galaxy his plan to re-activate L.E.G.I.O.N.
